As a Burmese person I would love to see an international force overthrow the current military regime and either hand over power to the surviving members of the elected government in 1990, or start over and get a constitutional delegation organised. Burma's very different to places like Vietnam or Ir...

I'm very surprised that they've been pretty much left untouched so far. Every single protest in the past has been crushed with military force and the leaders either imprisoned for long sentences or killed. The biggest of the protests was in 1988, and the monks were at the forefront of those protests...

Defending pure free markets based on the generosity of some people is a complete non-sequitor. It amounts to arguing that because there exists good men there is no need for laws.

Republican: Newt Gingrinch; At least he'll be perfectly honest about what he wants to do, and consequently go down in flames. Democratic: Al Gore; People are ready to elect him again to make amends. It's a shame that he probably won't run. Personal: Paul Krugman; Forget the politicians and put a gee...

Impeach Bush? Get Cheney. Impeach Cheney. Get Ted Stevens. You can't win. Sure you can. Build pressure to impeach. The Republican congress will hold out for as long as they can. Don't let up the pressure. Use it (along with the general Culture of Corruption theme) to take back the House and Senate ...
