FWIW, the Duratec 4 cylinder in the Ranger is the same basic "world" motor that is in the Focus and the Mazda 3 and other models in the Ford/Mazda line (displacements ranging roughly from 2-2.5L). From a gearhead POV it is a pretty nicely done modern engine.
