I've seen that one before but it's among my favourites. For me the circles move regardless of whether I use one or two eyes. I do notice that the circle I stare at appears stationary, but it's the circles in my peripheral vision that appear to move... I think a lot of other moving illusion images ar...

There's an archive of journal entries describing life with Koko here. It is fascintating reading, and gives some insight into what Koko talks about and how she communicates what's on her mind.

It has been said that trying to organize atheists is like herding cats. A lot of atheist groups seem to exist just to stir up trouble as a reaction to religion pervading society. There are organizations like the "Skeptics society" which focus more on critical examination of facts and claim...

Um, what happened to the threat of mutually assured destruction?

And why wouldn't they just use some kind of laser defense system, it'd be hard to dodge that.

The first rule in Nuke club is that you don't actually get to use the Nukes.

I'm no physicist, but perhaps you are thinking of Heisenburg's Uncertainty Principle. The more accurately you can determine a subatomic particle's position, the less accurately you will be able to determine its velocity. Thus you may be able to determine where a particle is, but not where it is head...

Wow what a thread! It's like some freaky hybrid that would normally be bounced between SL&S and GRD. I can identify with your story as I grew up in a fundy family and was looking for answers when I was 22. I still remember the mixed emotions, awkward moments and silence from many of my Christian...

This is an interesting topic. The following related passages come to mind - Jesus speaking (KJV): Matt. 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Matt. 12:32 And whosoever speak...

I get the feeling of deja vu every few months. I even get multiple deja vu (where I think that not only have I experienced something before, but the last time I had experienced it I also felt it was deja vu at the time). One common factor when I experience it is that I cannot actually predict what i...
