MRI's
I had one about three years ago when I was diagnosed w/migraine headaches. It's mostly painless. They'll give you an I-V with dye used to bring up the contrast. It feels weird, but it didn't hurt. I've heard that some people have trouble with claustrophobia, but there are now "open-MRI" machines for them.
You will have to stay motionless for quite a while, so go to the can first.
And don't forget to tell your boss you'll be out. I sent mine an e-mail; "After all these years, I'm finally having my head examined!"

Like others have said, no pain.
Now what is bad, is a Upper GI (I think that's the name). Docs use it to test for ulcers/other stomach problems. I had one a while ago, a damn I've never felt that bad in my life. BTW, I do have an ulcer, and I'm only 16 years old.
Anyways, enough self-pity, I hope the MRI doesn't show any problems.

I've had 2 on my knees and 1 on my shoulder. The funny thing was before my first one the x-rayed my head to see if I had any metal flakes in my eyes. I guess that since I had a metal working class in HS they just wanted to be sure. I had the same doctor for all 3, he blasted Metallica through the room so I at least had something to listen too.

You were fortunate. My physician played Barnes&Barnes' "Fish Heads" over and over and over again, obviously as a joke. It is the only time a doctor has actually made me sick to my stomach.
