I'm so glad I don't feel that way anymore.

Spring has sprung

The sun is shining down on Sussex, the cherry trees are in full bloom and I woke up this morning next to a rather lovely 19-year-old French blonde named Anne-Laure.

And it's Friday!!!

I FEEL GREAT! Image

Love has passed me by
Taunting as it fled
I lie broken, twisted crushed
Wishing I were dead

Still, it is not for meo to choose
I have but life and nothing more
For I have lost all to loose
Alone in eternity

Damned I am evermore
Cursed existence torments me
I see love dancing away
Taunting, beckoning me

I follow on I know not why
No longer need I reason
It is not my choice to do or die
It is to do-and do alone

And bless all that responded here (Illuminati excluded-twisting the knife is no longer appreciated)

Just remember what Keats said:

Ay, in the very temple of Delight
Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine...

Though seen of none save him whose strenuous tongue

Can burst Joy’s grape against his palate fine;

His soul shall taste the sadness of her might,

And be among her cloudy trophies hung.

Schalldampfer and all:

Apologies for joining this thread late, but there are some thoughts I would like to offer.

Schalldampfer, you have posted "classic" signs of major depression, not that you need someone to tell you that you're depressed, but please be aware that this is a common disease for which there is very effective and yet grossly under-utilized treatment available.

Depression is a disease, just as diabetes and hypertension are diseases. We have learned much about depression over the last dozen years, and we now know that it is usually due to metabolic derangement just as hypertension and diabetes are. What you've described is not the natural, normal and temporary blues that come with bad times such as the loss of a loved one or a job, nor is it the angst that many thoughtful people feel over our general state of existence (ie. "the world is fucked").

You've probably have a serious mood disorder (yea, like, duh? tell me something I don't know) that is due to a persistent imbalance in cerebral neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin and their respective receptors.

With a better understanding of the chemical origins of depression, there are now effective medications available today that were unknown just a few years ago; they work by correcting neurotransmitter imbalances, and they won't make you into a "zombie" as the clumsy, older drugs did.

It's tragic that the typical sufferer of depression remains untreated to this day and continues to live in pain because of ignorance and the stupid stigma that comes with this disorder; please don't be one of them. See a doctor this week and start living again.

The above opinion is not meant to be nor should it be misconstrued as medical evaluation, diagnosis, and/or treatment.

Respectfully, Rick
