Graph of FRDB political compass scores

Post by KnightWhoSaysNi » Tue Nov 27, 2007 10:08 pm

Some of you might remember this thread where I built a database and graph based on scores from the political compass test.

I would like to start the process anew. The PC test probably changed a little since last year, new people are here, some have left, and some might have quite different scores compared to last time.

Update (Feb. 24):

Here is the latest graph based on the political compass test. We now have 100 submissions. I'll update the graph again when I get a total of 125.

As the pattern shows, IIDB'ers are mostly a socially progressive left-of-centre bunch, but there's not an insignificant faction who are more amenable to laissez-faire economic principles and policies. The one thing we all have in common (so far) is our aversion to authoritarianism. Respondents are conspicuously absent from the upper quadrants.

Mean economic left/right score: -3.34
Mean libertarian/authoritarian score: -4.86

Most economically leftwing: xunzian (-9.75)
Most economically right-wing: Kaizizzle (+9.00)
Most socially permissive: TheDevil'sApprentice (-8.46)
Most socially authoritarian: Dante Alighieri (-0.36)

Most likely to throttle each other if left alone in a room: xunzian (-9.75, -0.41) and Kaizizzle (9.00, -4.56).

P.S. Also, lpetrich has offered his invitation to take the Moral Politics, Political Brew, and Fire and Ice tests for his analysis.

Here are the scores submitted so far, just in case some of you may like to keep your own database and do your own statistics:

KnightWhoSaysNi: -6.12, -6
Alethias: -2.62, -5.18
Jimmy Higgins: -6.25, -5.44
BriAnna: -4.25, -3.23

The first number (x-axis) is Economic Left/Right and the second (y-axis) is Libertarian/Authoritarian.

I'd prefer to get the most recent scores only. Things have changed around here since the Great Apocalypse. ;)

Mine says:

Economic Left/Right: -2.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.49

But seriously, I had issues with so many of the wordings, and with the forced-choice (for some questions, I would have answered "WTF?") that it seems a bit pointless.

Anyway, me and the Lama, we're tight :D

Right at Friedman.

A little more libertarian than the last time I took the test.

Economic Left/Right: -5.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.03

I'm a lot more left leaning than I used to be yet I'm still classified as libertarian? Whatever.
