I have come across a new blog that might be worth keeping track of:

http://www.worthlessmysteries.com/
Exploring the Bible and other ancient literature from a secular—not to mention irreverent—point of view, with an emphasis on Enochic and apocalyptic traditions.

Also, rants about the academic job market.

The title of the blog, taken from the First Book of Enoch, refers to the teachings given to humanity by fallen angels, and reflects the joy I take in studying things that are utterly irrelevant.
That pretty much describes most of us, doesn't it?

You could spend a lifetime studying the insane lunacy that is 1 Enoch. Why not? People have done much crazier things.

Thanks. Bookmarked.

You might have to remove Neil Godfrey's blog from that list (or update it when he gets a new site), from http://vridar.wordpress.com/
vridar.wordpress.com is no longer available.

Just about an hour ago, I read a blog post there that accused James McGrath of professional incompetence, and there have been similar charges against Joel Watts of unsettledchristianity. But nothing that seemed libelous by internet standards.

Roman Law is critical for understanding Paul's opinions on circumcision, the Law, and the issue of freedom and slavery ... notice which Emperor's his opinions agree with (hint could be the two guys immediately after Trajan ... just saying)
