Policy on thread deletion

Post by Darth Dane » Sat Aug 16, 2003 8:52 pm

Whats the policy of thread deletion?

Once posted, it is on, or can the author get a deletion if asked?

Or is it a case by case scenario?

How does this work?

I think the only case I've heard of where a thread has been deleted is when a spammer has started one. Otherwise, threads do not get deleted <that i have seen in 1.6 years anyway>, even if you request it. We can, given a good enough reason edit your OP after the 2 hour window has passed, but that's about it.

Actually there's one case where thread deletion makes sense. When a thread consists of just the OP that's been edited to a delete-me there's nothing to keep.

As mentioned we very rarely delete anything around here. Unless it is a duplicate thread or has no content we do not delete the thread. Once posted you should assume that it will be kept for good.

We have had several requests for deleted posts/threads and I don't recall granting any of them (unless a rule violation occured).

I've zapped a couple because of duplication back when we had all the server problems.
