FAQ item--polls

Pardon my ignorance but this technology is apparently too much for me. I would like to post a poll and see that there is not a "Post New Poll", that apparently I must "Post New Thread" and then select Yes, that I want to add a poll. From there I'm lost. Is "number of options" the same thing as "number of questions" or is that the number of possible answers on question one? I would like to add a poll with six yes or no answers. How do I do that? May I suggest an FAQ item on how to post a poll?

The options are possible answers for the question:

Poll: what is your favorite color?

o Blue
o White
o Red
o Pink
o Orange

...that kind of thing.

Blue, white, red, pink and orange are the options for that poll I just made up.

To create this poll, I would start a new thread, post a poll, enter 5 as the number of options, "what is your favorite color?" as the question, and blue, white, red, pink, and orange as the options.

Does that help?

Chicken Girl (who is pretty much an expert on polls by now ;) ) covered the basics pretty well.

To answer your other question: no, you cannot do a single poll with 6 yes/no questions. Polls are single question, multiple answer affairs. So you could provide one question with six answers, but not six different questions. If you want to get six answers from everyone, I suggest just writing them into the body of your OP.

A section on posting polls may be an interesting addition to the FAQ.

As I responded on fromtheright's ICR thread suggestion, there is a section for this in the general vB f.a.q. available by clicking the button at the top of the page. Here is a link to the section on posting polls.
